The village of Sidford is just a mile and a half from Sidmouth esplanade and a very pleasant walk along the River Sid through the Byes will take you to the town. The village is quite self contained with shops, inns and a tea rooms.
A frequent winner of the Best Kept Village competition, Sidbury is a colourful, "chocolate box" village with its 16th century thatched cottages adorned with flower baskets and troughs. Just 3 miles from Sidmouth and 5 miles from the bustling market town of Honiton, famous for its lace, pottery and as an antiques centre, this pretty village has a good little selection of shops, tearooms and pubs and lovely walks can be enjoyed through lanes and the surrounding fields.
Unspoilt and Secluded, Salcombe Regis is a fine example of a typical English village. It is home to the renowned Donkey Sanctuary which is a wonderful experience for young and old alike with a restaurant for lunches and teas or ice-creams and gives access to a lovely walk down to Weston Mouth. The local campsite shop and off licence can provide everyday resources.
