Find self catering holiday accommodation or enjoy a short break in Exmouth. The elegant seaside resort of Exmouth has been a proven favourite since the 18th century. With its bustling, lively centre there is plenty to see or do for everyone and all ages.
The waterfront is now graced by a stylish modern marina, a safe haven for an array of colourful boats, and giving access to glorious walks along the Exe Estuary, a noted site for migratory birds. There are miles of golden sands with rock pools and plenty of space for lively activity, traditional beach entertainments such as swing-boats and crazy golf, and a variety of water sports. A two-mile level promenade enables the less active to stroll along the front or take a seat to watch the hubbub of beach fun.
There are beautiful parks and gardens and boat trips can be made for fishing or to cruise along the Jurassic coastline, the River Exe or across the bay to Sidmouth or Torquay. The Elizabeth Hall is a venue for craft fairs, fetes and car boot sales whilst a short walk to the town centre will find an excellent range of shops, cafes, pubs, takeaways, an indoor market and a multi-screen cinema. There is also an indoor swimming pool and sports centre.
Day and night time entertainment can be found at the Exmouth Pavilion on the seafront and there are also nightclubs and many welcoming inns and restaurants.
Transport to surrounding local areas is excellent with a regular train service into the Cathedral City of Exeter (35 minutes) and the Coasthopper bus service linking Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, East Budleigh, Otterton, Newton Poppleford and Sidmouth making Exmouth an ideal touring centre for East Devon.
Nearby Topsham, on the banks of the River Exe, can be reached by river boat or train, as well as by car, and has an olde worlde charm of its own. The fascinating architecture spans many styles including Georgian and Elizabethan and some Dutch style houses built by merchants in the 17th century. There are many interesting shops and the Quay Centre features an abundance of antiques, bygones and collectables. There are many cafes, restaurants and pubs including an 11th century inn.
