VISITOR COMMENTS:
"A wonderful oasis in Sidmouth, close to the sea front"
We spent a wonderful 4 days in Sidmouth at York Cottage, with my elderly parents and twin boys.
The cottage is as attractive in real life as it appears in the photos on the website. Inside it was cosy, warm, clean and had a welcoming homely feel. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the cottage was more spacious than we expected and very child friendly. Parents travelling with young children like us will be pleased that the owners have thought of everything (child cutlery / crockery, blackout curtains, a stair gate, a travel cot, a high chair, bed guard etc.)!
Location-wise, this spot is ideal. If you walk a few mins in either direction, you will find the beach, a wide variety of restaurants, a park and children's playground, a swimming pool and a high street with a variety of shops to choose from incl. a Co-Op and Tesco express and a Boots. We drove down, but did not use the car all week as everything was close by.
The cottage has private courtyard and which was great for the kids and sitting out in the mornings. There is a BBQ too but sadly the weather was not on our side!
Overall, we had a great trip and found something for everyone to do. Sadly, the weather wasn't on our side so we didn't get to spend as much time on the beach as we would have liked but it did not "dampen" our spirits. Sidmouth is delightful, friendly locals and a very picturesque location.
Easter 2013: We have loved the cottage, the position, how child friendly it is and well kept. Thank you for letting us share it with you. We definitely will consider doing it again, especially when it is warmer. Lucca loved the Peppa Pig dvd!
April 2013: We've had a delightful few days in Sidmouth - excellent food and warm welcome everywhere. The cottage is charming and very comfortable and in a great spot.
July 2012: We thank you because we have stayed in your lovely home as it were ours! It's all new, tidy and very comfortable - we also enjoyed Sidmouth and the surroundings. We hope to come back next year again. Mr & Mrs
June 2012: thank you for having us in your lovely cottage. This is our first time in Sidmouth and we have had an excellent time and the beautiful area. We will definitely come back and visit Dartmoor National Park and all the nice fishing villages. Once again, thank you for your hospitality in this modern and comfortable cottage. Great stay!!!
June 2012: It's been lovely to get down to Sidmouth again at last. We have very much enjoyed our week despite some great wind and rain! Have been on the beach most days and explored the rock pools. The children have had a lovely time and don't want to go home.

Short Breaks are available from the end of October half term to the start of the Easter school holidays, or at the owners' discretion for a last minute booking at other times of the year.
