Relax at this peaceful eco-friendly  detached cottage, 17th  century grade II listed, and its half acre garden in the historic hamlet of Harpford on the River Otter - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, yet only 5 minutes by car/bus to Sidmouth.  Wonderful walks from the doorstep, including the  East Devon  Way. Many thoughtful measures have gained Podbury's the top Green Tourism award - Gold. There are many places to visit nearby  encompassing wildlife, culture, family fun, heritage - something for everyone!

"A beautiful magical place", Podbury's welcomes you at all seasons and is equally suitable for 2 persons or 6. It is comfortably furnished with charm and character yet has all modern conveniences. The spacious cosy rooms face south and overlook the secluded garden.
 
ACCOMMODATION:  Entrance door to spacious living room with feature brick fireplace (not for use) and exposed beams. Lovely dining room. Large farmhouse-style kitchen/breakfast room with dresser. Shower room with WC. Utility room ("the Green Room") with WC. Easy stairs to three good-sized bedrooms, one double and two twin.  Modern Victorian-style bathroom with hand-held shower and WC. The Green Room has display boards and files, books, magazines, tourist information, eco-gadgets. Electricity/full gas central heating included all year round. Ample parking and mature half-acre garden with furniture. The fully enclosed garden is a delight: watch the birds, have an al fresco breakfast on the lawn, explore the wooded area. Visiting badgers drink at the pond (safety fenced), and nestboxes encourage tawny owl, dormouse and hedgehogs.

Secure undercover cycle storage, maps, guides, place for drying clothes. We ask guests not to smoke inside this thatched cottage.  

 No short breaks. £100.00 security deposit required.

August 2012 - I'm aged 12 and from San Francisco and I'm here with my Mom, Dad, Great Aunt and her daughter.  It's absolutely magical here, right out of a story book.  The trees are great for climbing and its great to explore.  I really like the old sheds hidden in the ivy.  I thnk the Church is really cool, I'm listening to the bells right now.  We'll be sad to leave.

November 2012 - We have seen Podburys Cottage in Spring, Summer, and as Autumn draws to a close and Winter begins, the magic of Podburys does not fail us.  Our dogs are in 7th heaven as they forage for the balls they lost!  Woken to a dull, gloomy morning which reflects our mood as we have to go home; even the dogs seem subdued!  Hope to come back soon.

December 2012 - What a wonderful Christmas celebration we have had this week in this delightful cottage!  Podburys is charged with a most interesting history, warmth and charm.  Despite the weather we have enjoyed our stay immensley.  Thank you for everything!

April 2013 - Aged 7 - I really enjoyed Podburys Cottage because I could watch all of the birds; also I liked checking the hedgehog box and going on the lovely walks. 

April 2013 - Aged 10 - I really enjoyed Podburys Cottage because it has lovely walks and all the wild life.  Some days we just stayed in this amazing cottage; I hope to come back really soon.

Short Breaks are available from the end of October half term to the start of the Easter school holidays, or at the owners' discretion for a last minute booking at other times of the year. Unfortunately it would be most unusual for us to be in a position to consider a short break at peak holiday times, such as the October and February half terms or over the Christmas, New Year and Easter breaks.
